Rookies Dominate 2017 Sweetness Open in Lancaster

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

The new MBA season is upon us. On October 12th, members old and new gathered at the newly renovated Rocky Springs Entertainment Center for what was to be, for some, the greatest moment of their sporting lives!!!

Team “leader” Mike McDonnell (who was 10 minutes late) picked up a spare in his first frame. His celebration was cut short by the sound of rookie Zach Adams bowling a strike in his first attempt, followed immediately by Matt Bergstroms ear splitting strike!  Game 1 was dominated by rookie bowlers. Kevin Cotchen and Alex Kepeck each finished with a 147 and an impressive # of Spares. Another impressive rookie performance was Savannah bowling a staggering 9 gutter balls!
Game 2 saw a dazzling display by Neal with a 140, a personal hi for the day. While Joabi had his worst game of the night with a 95. Ashley had a 120 average after 2 games.

Game 3 started with the bar running out of White Russians. Despite this several rookies had their best games, Rachel, Lauren, Donovan and Danielle (doo doo) Brown. Pictured below celebrating.

The event ended with an egregious and inexcusable, but all too common math error possibly alcohol induced. Rookie sensation Kevin Cotchen who finished with a 141 average was accidentally informed that he was tied for 3rd with Jocabi, when in fact he was our first place winner!!!
Alex Kepeck finished in second with a 135 and Mike took third with a 126. Gina and Savannah tied with 25 gutters.

Gina graciously allowed Savannah to take home her first of many gutter trash award.
Although never mediocre with her dance moves Deb Grove took home another dude award to add to her collection.

Small Gathering Of Mediocre Bowlers Battle in the Lancaster T.D.K.M.T.

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

It was a sad day on the lanes this past Sunday. Our proud bowling team was not well represented. Stricken by grief at the passing of the late great Theodore Donald (Donny) Kerabatsos our numbers were few. Many too upset or possibly hungover to make it to the lanes did not show up.

Despite being reduced to a mere 8 bowlers the team carried on in typical fashion drinking very well and bowling very poorly. One bowler in particular stood out. Deb Grove, who to date had been our most consistently mediocre bowler channeled the spirit of young Donny and was throwing rocks!! She was heard muttering "you guys are dead in the water" several times. In the end she came out the victor. Perhaps her sunny getaway last month gave her the rest and perspective needed to persevere on the lanes.

Eric took home his first ever dude award and Gina won another gutter trash award. Gina and Danielle are leading all bowlers with 45 & 46 gutters on the season.

Neal caught up to Joabi and they are tied at 22 strikes each. Mike is leading the team in Spares with 28.

Wrap Up: Lancaster Chapter Drinks White Russians till They Win White Russian...s

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

Tonight was our final team event The Caucasian Open. The three bowlers with the highest scores were the captains and chose fair teams based on the scores of the other Bowlers.

The teams were:

Captain Joabi, Louis, Danielle and Jasmine.
Captain Eric "Snacks" Forberger, Gina, Dana, and Allie.
Captain Mike, Neal, Jen and Brendan.

Our night started off with our 5 year anniversary pins which we were all proud to receive (Even though Lousy George [Karyczak] has a problem with it.).

Game 1 saw Joabi bowl his second Turkey of the season and Neal "the real deal" Bricker bowl the highest score of his career.

Game 2 was Brendan's best game of his young career, an impressive 178. That combined with his team mates heavy consumption of White Russians led them to victory.

This was Jen's second consecutive event victory.  Allie Miller won her first MBA trophy taking home the Dude Award and Danielle reclaimed her Gutter Trash award.

We had another great night of drinking laughing and bowling and want to thank Rocky Springs for putting up with us especially Munch!! for helping us out every month.

Wrap Up: Trachok and Snacks Take Lancaster Great Divide at Refuge Bowling Alley

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

It was another exciting night of firsts for the Lancaster chapter of the MBA. The night started off with our usual alley being closed for a holiday party. Luckily we were able to move the event to the bar less Leisure Lanes.

The Great Divide pairs the bowler with the best score wth the bowler that has the worst, second best with second worst and so on.

So with whiskey in our fountain sodas we began. Game 1 saw Season hi scores for many bowlers most notably Jen 116 and Eric (snacks) with a 122. In game 2 they would continue their excellent play and somehow bowl the opposite scores 116 for Snacks and a 122 for Jen. The pair would go on to claim the first place trophies. When asked about his achievements Eric said "I'm proud to be at the top of the most mediocre. If my parents were still alive, they would be less disappointed in me. " This reporter for one highly doubts that.

Finishing in 2nd place Joabi had the overall hi score with a 154 in game 2 and his team mate Danielle bowled her 2 best games of the season including a walk the line in game 1.
For the second time Neal brought home the dude award. My sources down at the league office tell me

Neal is the first repeat Dude award winner in MBA history.
Despite bowling her 2 best games of the season Gina also managed to bowl more gutters than anyone else and took home her first gutter trash award.

Another night of chilli cheese fries, soggy pizzas and choco tacos is in the books. The Caucasian Open is on the horizon and the bowlers are all eager to get their hands on the coveted trophy.

Wrap Up: McDonnell Wins Masters After Winning Sweetness Last Month

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

Another exciting MBA event is in the books. The Knock Em Back Masters featured countless bowling alley pizzas and more buckets of beers than bowlers.  We were down 4 of our 15 members but brought in a few prospects to bowl with us.

Once again chapter leader and mediocre shit talker Mike McDonnell got to take the coveted Colt 45 40oz home. Despite tough competition from Dana Carville The event was decided by 1.5 pins. Louis Valencias fancy dance moves weren't enough to get him out of third place.  Unfortunately for them there are no trophies for first and second loser.

Another repeat "winner" was Danielle (baked beans) Sharp who threw another unprecedented 10 gutter balls.

And finally Neal Bricker won his first MBA trophy, taking home The Dude award for his most mediocre performance.

The highlight of the night was when someone requested Prince and we got to bowl while singing Purple Rain.

Wrap Up: Lancaster's Inaugural Sweetness Open

MBA CHAPTER - LANCASTER, PA

The Lancaster chapter of the MBA has finally had its inaugural event.  The First annual Sweetness Open was held at Rocky Springs Entertainment Center, nestled between the stabby streets of the Red Rose City and the rolling hills of Amish Country.

Chapter Leader, Mike McDonnell, stole the first game with a 141. While Danielle "Baked Beans" Sharp threw an impressive 9 gutter balls. The rest of the bowlers were mediocre and not worth mentioning.
Game 2 was dominated by Jasmine Grimm, who threw an impressive 149 which was the high score for the night!! Neal Bricker had a dreadful 68. In a post game interview, Neal had no comment. He just showed us his ball inscribed with the word "shitty".

Game 3 was equally as lackluster, though it saw high scores from both Eric Forberger and Neal Bricker. We, also, got to see Gina show us what mediocre really is. She bowled a 40, the low score for the night, and 9 gutters to tie Baked Beans for most gutters of the event with 18!!

Upon further review it was actually Gina who won the tie breaker but due to gross negligence Baked Beans was awarded the Gutter Trash Award.* When asked about Ginas dreadful performance her caretaker Eric Forberger replied "Maybe she does need that helmet."

The Dude Award was given to Deb Grove who in spite of bowling most mediocre, entertained us all with her between-frame dance moves.
